Privacy Notice
What personal information this service collects, why, and what rights you have over it.
This notice explains what the County Government of Laikipia does with personal information collected through this service. It is written to meet the Data Protection Act, 2019.
Who is responsible
The County Government of Laikipia, Department of Infrastructure, Land, Energy, Housing and Physical Planning, is the data controller.
What is collected
- Account details — your name, email address, telephone number and password
- Application details — the plot, the development proposed, and the parties named on it
- Documents you upload in support of an application
- A record of use — when you sign in, and what actions you take on a file
Why
- To receive, assess and decide development applications, which is a statutory function under the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, 2019
- To contact you about your application
- To keep the audit trail the county is required to keep of statutory decisions
Who it is shared with
- County offices involved in deciding your application
- Offices notified of an approval, which receive a copy of the P.P.A 2
- Anyone verifying a certificate. The public check confirms the plot, the development and the decision. It does not disclose your contact details or your documents.
Information is not sold, and is not used for marketing.
How long it is kept
Applications, decisions and the audit trail are public records and are retained under the county's retention schedule. Account details are kept while the account is open.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may ask to see the personal information held about you, ask for it to be corrected, object to how it is used, or complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Your name, phone number and password can be changed yourself from your account page at any time.
To make a request, contact the department using the details in the footer of this page.
