Accessibility

How accessible this service is, and what to do if something is in your way.

This service should be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, magnify the screen, or cannot use a mouse.

What has been done

  • Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, with a "skip to main content" link as the first stop
  • Text and background colours meet contrast requirements, and the service can be used at 200% zoom without loss of content
  • Form fields have visible labels, and errors say what is wrong in words rather than by colour alone
  • Content is structured with real headings so a screen reader can navigate it
  • The service works on a phone as well as on a desktop
  • It is available in English and Kiswahili

Known limitations

  • Some uploaded documents are supplied by applicants and their professionals. A scanned drawing cannot be read by a screen reader, and the county cannot make third-party documents accessible.
  • Complex drawings have no text alternative.
